It's not really a scam, it's a user-generated way of making platforms mean something. Of course, for people to buy into it the parties have to be useful. Pocketbook membership can be used to make a quick buck while influencing some votes, while Creampuff actually has the power to slightly disenfranchise non-members if enough people join; after all, if it has at least half of the players and at least half plus one of them put something in their platform, it will fail. If you want, I do have a suggestion for how you can use your overbar to mess with things in an interesting fashion.
