Yes, they did, but Orc's p1457 passed, and part of its text was "change the first instance of 'player' to 'Player, Gremlin, Robot, or the Yeti'."  That's neither here nor there, though.

I would certainly do that, at least in the interim.  I don't think it's entirely necessary to have one specific person tracking it, though.  When I first joined, I maintained my own copy of The Grid on graph paper and updated it each time someone moved.
