What if we made the go board a diamond, with hexagonal tiles?

On the board above, each piece would be connected to the piece that was
formerly above it and to the left, or below it and to the right, as well as
its current neighbors.

Since the two extra liberties mean it's harder to capture, I'd say we just
declare that any group with at least as many pieces as it has liberties is
dead.
