Re: [spoon-discuss] Simplifying

I have a proto-prop. I wonder what people think of it:
-I think no. Simplify the Grid, yes. Destroy it, no! Ye gods, that's half the game you're trying to nuke there. I'm in favor of clearing out the old stuff, but not at the cost of essentially kicking this game back in time a year. And if you do simplify the Grid, leave Armies, land ownership, grid space enhancements, speeders, IID, Ancient Monoliths, and Whoopass - I think the Grid could be revitalized with those alone, if only we had a few Monoliths going. Or a better supply of Whoopass.

Most of the rest you can nuke to your heart's content as far as I'm concerned.-

I thought about that, and indeed, much of my prop is organized in the hopes of grouping similar rules, to make it easy to take out all the rules related to a given concept/object [[i.e., terraforming, resources, entropy, religion, etc.]]

But what I was thinking about trying to create was a new subgame entirely, completely unrelated to the Grid - after all, Nomic is a game of change; why not change the system entirely?

I'm trying to come up with a good new subgame... We've already got the Rumble rule in place, so that's always an option; I've also recently learned of a game called Dvorak, which is basically a generic card game. See http://www.dvorakgame.co.uk/rules.html for a full description of what Dvorak is.

<snip>

-Wellll... okay, I like that idea too, but I'm still going to vote against taking out the basic Grid. At least it's A La Carte. Objection mostly rescinded.-
