[spoon-discuss] Re: [Spoon-business] NWEEK 37 BALLOT |
Following is the M-Tek Position on the Nweek 37 Ballot: >Proposal 1380/0: E=MC^2 (bd) Shelve. Needs a tad more precision, since one insta-rule might not only be the opposite of another, it might be the superset of the opposite of another. For instance, an insta-rule permitting beer cans to be thrown at Wonko and another prohibiting throwing beer cans at all players would both be destroyed. >Proposal 1381/0: But I'm Lazy! (The Voice) Less-is-more-ing, are we? Oh, sure. >Proposal 1382/2: "Add"ing Things Up (The Voice) No. I'd rather changes be specific and precise. Besides, "or in any other manner the Administrator decides" includes as a comment. :P >Proposal 1383/1: I wonder what this button does...? (bd) No. I reiterate my no-nukes sentiment. >Proposal 1384/1: Mis(s )Ty(/i)p(p)ing (Sheeba) Shelve. I think I voted for this before, but now that I think about it, it seems like a free, visible bonus box...Miss Tipping's movements would be known by the end of the nweek; it would be easy for someone with a speeder to plunk down next to her. >Proposal 1385/0: mmm, donuts (bd) Shelve. "A player or a cop may eat a donut." If cops are NPCs, cops have no free will; therefore there must be circumstances stated under which a cop WILL eat a donut. >Proposal 1386/0: Recycle, please (Wonko) Yes. >Proposal 1387/0: A New and/or Improved Safety Valve (The Administrator) No. It's not nonsense. :) >Proposal 1388/1: Unlikely Icecapades (Orc In a Spacesuit) Shelve. "Standard Abuse", despite the fact that it's currently used in the rules, is not defined. >Proposal 1389/3: The Grid: Not Just For Football Anymore (Baron von Skippy) Shelve. Nothing says improvements purchased by players actually belong to the players (which is required if one is to differentiate between owned and unowned LZs), and nothing says improvements can only be scrapped by their owners. >Proposal 1390/0: Layer Delimiters (Sheeba) Yes. >Proposal 1391/0: Just one more Nweek... (Baron von Skippy) Yes. >Proposal 1392/0: But that's MY Nomvivor winnings! (Baron von Skippy) Yes. >Proposal 1393/0: Even the GM gets some loot (Orc In a Spacesuit) Yes. >Proposal 1394/0: Fire Burns (Orc In a Spacesuit) Yes. Though I submit this doesn't qualify under the song form, since (a) "fire" is used both as a one-syllable word and a two-syllable word, and (b) the fourth line is a syllable short. And remind me to slap Wonko for introducing song form... >Proposal 1395/1: Unanimous Yes (Sheeba) Shelve. It doesn't say the author of what, or what "all the votes" were cast for. I could see this interpreted as, "When someone casts all 'yes' votes on a given nweek's ballot, all points e earned from that ballot are doubled." I assume that's not what Sheeba meant. I'm voting "shelve" rather than "no" because I assume this is a wording issue. >Proposal 1396/0: In Memorial (The Voice) No. Don't make me get unbridledly hostile. >Proposal 1397/0: Voting Revamp (The Voice) Shelve. I'd much rather see the period expressed in x days (minimum of 1) and the (x+1)th day for vote counting, on the grounds that someone could accidentally introduce an issue with zero days to vote on it by calling it a 1-day vote. >Proposal 1398/0: Introducing the Plugboard (Glotmorf) Yes. And to answer bd's question, a plugboard is something that allows connections between multiple devices, consisting of sockets and plugs on wires, or sockets between which wires can be connected. Envision the old-time phone operators, who would put a call through by plugging a wire into a socket. The idea here is that rules dependent on ministers have sockets on a plugboard, and a wire from the minister is plugged into the socket for support. If the minister isn't supporting, the Administrator pulls the plug, and possibly inserts his own plug in. >Proposal 1399/0: Olive Harvesting (Sheeba) Shelve. The olive tree rule depends on Athena's Society, which I believe is about to encounter a constitutional crisis.
