Baron von Skippy Decreed:
Orc Grunted:I really like the Improbability Drive, but it needs to be a bit harder to get. Ford Prefect didn't do it alone.-Ford didn't do it at all, but he's currently the only character from THHGTTG represented in B Nomic.-
I know, but he wasn't the only guy there either. And he still couldn't make one alone.
Hmm. Maybe an Alien Gnome, and require an Ancient Monolith, and... >well, I'm just making things up.-Hadn't noticed... anyway, you need an Alien Gnome to get a Ford Prefect.
Fully aware of this. See above.
I think insetead of making it harder to get, it should be uglire to use. You use it, and there's a roughly 3/5 chance that something screwy will happen to you (Upon consideration, Glotmorf, I prefer that, so I hope that clears up one of your issues.)-
Sounds good, but it should still be a little more complicated to get. Not too hard, just a Ford seems a little... inadequate.
I've got some ideas, but we'd need more props to fully implement them. Also, the lots of Voids seems a bit harsh.-Yeah, I'm cutting that as soon as I can figure out how to do so quickly, and how to rearrange the other die rolls.-
I meant, "LOTS of Voids". 1 or 2 seems ok, out of the 400 squares.
Ooh, another idea-since it takes time, make it such that whoever's in the speeder cannot perform any grid actions for, say, 7 ndays.-I'm not sure I follow. See, I figured this would be the kind of thing you use in a case where it's better to become a Penguin than stay where you were. So you'd need to get moving FAST.-
Makes sense. Maybe a 1 nday wait, as it still does take time, but that would still let you do things.
-You mean Glotmorf? I still do't get how you figure that. Upon the movement's happening, the die is rolled.-And Wonko's right about the clarity with the movement and the die roll.
Whoever. I know what it means, but you have to make these things clear. Try (paraphrased):
{{When someone uses a IID, e chooses a location on the Grid and is moved there. E may not perform any action until the end of the next nday.
Also, a 1d100 is rolled. This roll determines additional effects of the Drive.
1-10: No additional effects ... }}
Ooh, another thought - think up some more wierd things, like maybe Gnomes turning into random types, a Caviar Sandwhich appearing, random grid object movement, etc. Another thought: since the one in the book was otherwise run-of-the-mill, either: prohibit other upgrades, or: cause some extratarrestrials to be looking to get all the IIP drive ships, and cause trouble for people to have them.-Well, with a little rephrasing, I could make it so that an IIP speeder wasn't a Speeder such that WOnko's Upgrades rule refers to. Then you couldn't do anything to it, although anything you'd already done might still be on... that might require a CFI to determine, unless I define what happens to existing upgrades.-
Go for it. Ooh, hey, I just thought of something. *goes and adds something to a future proposal. Orc In A Spacesuit thought of something.
