[s-b] Proposal : You cannot have your cake and eat it. |
I submit the following proposal, titled "You cannot have your cake and eat it": {{ Amend Rule 5-3 by adding {A Faction cannot become a Player, nor apply for Playership.} }} Conflict : Conflicts with Proposal "Prohibition" (5-3 needs to exist to be amended) [[ This is just stating explicitely an already existing consequence of the rules. I think the "topology" (Objects, Outsiders, External Forces) of B-Logic already prevents an Object from being both a Player and a Faction, as explained in the reasoning for my last Consultation : A Faction, as defined by Rule 5-2, is an Agreement. An Agreement (capital A), as defined by rule 5-1, is an agreement (lower case a) between parties, parties being External Forces. By its definition, an Agreement, is a game Object that binds External Forces together, it is not,in itself, an External Force. As such, an Agreement cannot be a Player, as a Player is an Outsider, that is, both an Object within the game and an External Force outside the game. Since 5-3 does not state that Agreements get an External Force status if they qualify as a Faction, then I think that Factions cannot be players, as they are not External Forces. Moreover, Rule 1-3 defines an External Force as "anything which exists independently of the game. That is, it would still exist if the game stopped existing, and would still exist if the game had never started existing.". Although the Agreement defining a Faction could exist outside of the game, A Faction needs to be an Agreement recognized by the game to be a Faction, and the very concept of Faction is something that is recognized, or not, in the game. As such, were the game cease to exist, any Faction would cease to exist, as they are defined within the game. Here again, this disqualifies Factions for the status of External Force, and, as such, Factions can not be players. I think this would resolve any attempt at abusing the faction status and gaining unfair voting power, and clear up the debate, without going as far as Proposal "Prohibition", and still allowing factions to exist and vote. ]] -- Will. _______________________________________________ spoon-business mailing list spoon-business@xxxxxxxxx http://lists.ellipsis.cx/mailman/listinfo/spoon-business
