Origins is a 4-day convention, held at the Columbus Convention center on 4th
of July weekend, for role-playing games, strategy games, collectible card
games, little games, big games, games, games, games.  You pay a fee to get
in, and you can shop in the booths of gaming stores from all over the
country, see new books and other game products as they are just coming out
and try them, and sign up (buy a cheap ticket) to play in a game you choose
from an activities list, maybe something you'd like to try for the first
time, or a game you love but can't get the time or players together to play
under normal circumstances.

In the past, I picked out one day of the weekend to go, and spent all day,
from morning until very late.  I find it more fun to go with a group of
friends, because you can sign up for games as a group, without anyone having
the burden of being the gamemaster (having to run the game for the others).
Also, I'm a bit leery of gaming with complete strangers, and having familiar
faces around makes things more fun (at least, to me).
