[ALACPP] Logistics: Book readings, night meeting |
Next week, we'll discuss Chapter 9 in Alexandrescu, "Abstract Factory". He'll go through how to use typelists for making abstract factories, so it looks like an interesting chapter, with some meat behind it. I propose that 2 weeks from now we review chapters 10 and 11, putting an end to the book. The chapters use fairly similar techniques and are quite technical -- discussing them together will be helpful. I'd also like to propose that we have a night meeting on July 24 (a Thursday). I'd like to present a generic event handler class -- first written by Arlo and Gavin -- and show how it uses policies, not to mention BOOST_PP, to great effect. I'll have a computer or two set up, so we can tackle other problems. I would prefer to hold such a meeting in an office space, preferably with a projector system. Guidance Software has an appropriate room (albeit a little small), but I'm not confident I'll be able to get permission to use it, given our security paranoia; I will investigate further, however. If you can arrange appropriate meeting space, I'm all ears. If worse comes to worst we can meet at my apartment, which is fairly spacious and easy to find. Your feedback is gladly solicited.
