Re: [s-d] Re: [s-b] Vetoing (Daniel Lepage)

The hope is that enough powers will be created that everyone can find something that suits them. The disadvantage to having a really awesome power is that you don't get to have any of the other really awesome powers.

In other words, you don't need downsides for balance if you make sure everyone has comparable upsides.

I've played a number of games of Rumble (<http://www.kevan.org/rumble>), and in my experience, powers that seem overly strong generally carry an implicit drawback in that everyone's afraid of you and wants to kill you quickly. People with powers like "Add 50 to each of your attacks" tend to die before this becomes a big issue.

OTOH, Rumble players bid starting health to get powers, so the most powerful ones tend to carry life hits when you start as well...

How about every player, upon dying, gets to choose a new set of powers and starts in the Front Hall with health equal to 20 minus the sum of the powers they chose? That way claiming a level 12 power leaves you in easy range of a Golem's single assault, while claiming Greed and Classism starts you at full health (and thus also gives you stat bonuses).

Also, maybe Health should be expanded to a large scale, like 1-90 instead of 1-30.

All the Classes have disanvantages. Shadow Golems for
example, run the risk of losing their soul instantly
should someone do 6+ damage to them. Priests can't use
thier own Souls. But someone with one 12 cost of lower
power has no disadvantages.
