The nearest point p out of a set of points x to a point y on the grid is
defined as follows:
* Let z equal the subset of x where all members have Cartesian metric
 distance from point y equaling r.
* Let r equal the lowest real number such that z is not an empty set.
* P is defined to be a random point existing in set z.

This definition takes effect only in the absence of other definitions for the
nearest point.
