When the rule was first proposed way back when, the proposer understood the pope card to have the "right good forever" reading (and in defending said reading claimed that it proved that Eris spoke in a Texan drawl when She wanted). Although the reading of "Right. Good forever." was pointed out almost immediately back then, the Agorans of the time thought it was Funny and adopted it. So it's crufty Agora-specific (or Pope Max Flax Beeblewax[*]-specific) humor. -Goethe.
