And according to American Heritage, perpetuate means, "To prolong the
existence of"

And prolong means, "To lengthen in duration"

Well, the length of its duration was zero until you came along and made it
('cause it didn't exist yet), but then you made it, causing the duration to
lengthen to greater than zero.

Therefore, the kick was valid.
