RE: spoon-discuss: Re: spoon-business: Proposal limiting jurisdic tion of rules: |
-------------------------------------------------------- Example one: the banker is required to do all the accounting for the bank. He probably 1 reads all the mail 2 makes the accounting on a spare piece of paper with a pencil (of he uses some sort of computer program or whatever) 3 then he posts a message to the list with the results so that the players can read it. -------------------------------------------------------- Yes, but the banker is required to post a message to the list. We're not requiring him to write the results on paper (he may use Access or some other desktop database to handle it, or a perl program). We also don't require that he use any particular program. We require the output, but not the process. We can specify a penalty for being wrong, so that it is in his best interest to use some sort of mechanism. But, if we find a banker that is a human calculator and can figure it out with perfect memory, then we're not requiring him to do anything at all outside of this rule. -------------------------------------------------------- Example two Joel is requred by rule 350/0 to perform a series of actions: 1 He must Randall 2 He must make a photograph of himself Randalling 3 He must post the result of this action on a public place where all the players can see it Both these examples feature actions directed by the rules and made outside of a public forum. the only difference is that rule 350/0 specifies the instrument to be used to record the process wheras the banker can use whatever he feels like to do his task Sorry if my english is so bad today. :) -------------------------------------------------------- Rule 350/0 requires that Joel must Randall. Now, if 350/0 would require ONLY that he must post new pictures of himself Randalling, it would be legal under this rule. Of course, since Rule 350/0 predates my proposal, it will override my proposed rule anyhow.
