I submit the following refresh proposal with the intent of fixing the
gaping flaws in contract law at present.
{Rule changes first.

Amend rule 4E79 by replacing the first instance of the string
{Officer. Officers} with {Officer. Officers may only be entities bound
to the Contract defining the Corporation, and if an entity ceases to
be so bound then it also ceases to be an Officer. If no such entity is
defined as an officer then every party to that contract is considered
an Officer.

Officers}. /* This defeats the CPA. */

Amend rule 4E70 by adding to the end:
{

The text of a Contract may not be taken to compel any behavior on the
part of any player who did not post a message explicitly stating their
consent to be bound by that Contract. /* This part stymies the efforts
of SCAM. */

No Contract may be submitted whose text is not provided, in
unencrypted form, in the e-mail message in which the text is
submitted. /* This part prevents future Contracts of Epimenides. That
one isn't nearly as broken as CPA or SCAM, but while we're tidying
things up we might as well. */
}

Amend rule 4E7 by adding to the end:
{

An explicit account of the action undertaken must be posted, in
unencrypted English; defining the action in an unambiguous fashion
without making it known to all English speakers reading the message
does not constitute a valid game action. /* This part keeps me from
posting encrypted text in foreign languages and claiming to do the
plaintext. */
}

Now, the gamestate changes.

Destroy the following contracts: SCAM, Crimson Permanent Assurance Mk
II, lhret rhlhr, Alelaelaelalealealealelaelaou, comex's Corporation,
comex's Second Corporation, comex's Third Corporation, comex's
Mersenne Prime Corporation, and the unnamed contract that lets us take
comex's mackerel.

Replace the Contract of Epimenides with the following text:

{
Section 1. This Contract is the Articles of Incorporation for a
Corporation known as Epimenides, Inc. This Corporation has two
Officers, known as the Cretan and the Cretin. They may or may not be
the same person at any given time. The Cretin is the party to this
Contract whose most recent instance of becoming bound by this Contract
was earlier than that of any other party to this Contract. The Cretan
is the party to this Contract whose first instance of becoming bound
by this Contract was later than that of any other party to this
Contract. The Cretan has the power to edit this Contract at any time,
but may only do so without objection from other Parties to this
Contract. No section of this Contract may bind the actions of the
Cretin. The Cretan may not edit this sentence or the sentence before
it, nor may he make any edits which would conflict with the
requirement of the preceding sentence.

Section 2. All ninjas are mammals.

Section 3. If a section of this Contract with an even number contains
any assertions of fact (as opposed to sentences which, while phrased
as declaratives, actually serve to bind its Parties' behavior), all
Parties to this Contract except the Cretin are forbidden from taking
any game actions they are able to take which could cause any such
assertion to become untrue. If such an assertion is already untrue,
all Parties to this Contract except the Cretin are required to take
any game actions they are able to take which could cause any such
assertions to become true. Furthermore, all Parties to this Contract
except the Cretin are required at all times to engage in game actions
founded on the premise that all such assertions are true, whether or
not they are.

Section 4. Ninjas fight ALL the time.

Section 5. The Cretin is humbly entreated by this Contract to make no
statement of fact on any public forum which is not false. As the
Contract may not bind the Cretin's behavior, however, this is not a
requirement, merely a polite request.

Section 6. The purpose of a ninja is to flip out and kill people.

Section 7. If the Cretan posts to a public forum and Epimenides, Inc.
posesses any mackerel or any socks, the Cretan is obligated to include
in the post a transaction indicating that e acts on behalf of the
corporation in such a way as to redistribute those mackerel and socks
to the two Officers of Epimenides, Inc. If the two Officers are
distinct people, the Cretan will do this using the dice server on
nomic.net. Such redistribution need not be random nor equitable.

Section 8. The player known as teucer has won the game of B Nomic
during the fourth era.

Section 9. No player may become a Party to this Contract more than
once in a single nweek.

Section 10. All assertions of fact (as clarified in section 3)
contained in even-numbered sections of the Contract of Epimenides are
false, except possibly this one.
}

/* That's what it currently says, as anybody who's bothered operating
the password - cretan - is encouraged to double-check. I just wanted
it to be posted in the clear so it would show up on the Ministry of
Business public display.*/

Change all PEPs' mental states to Calm.

Change the Message of the nweek to "Emergencies: like slumps, but with
extra paranoia."}

 - teucer
