Proposal 173/0: Spinning a Spiral Staircase
A Proposal by Wonko
Last modified on nweek 94, nday 4

Create the following rooms:
{{
== The Spiral Stair ==
 Description:: A doorframe in the Front Hall leads to a tall, thin spiral staircase. The staircase is made of wood, and is completely enclosed by walls. It spans three stories, from right below the Front Hall to right above it. Oddly enough, at each end of the staircase hangs a painting that appears to be of the staircase itself.
 Ordinances:: At any given time, the Spiral Stair is either Rising, Sinking, or Steady. The three exits from here are ordered: 1. The Storage Room, 2. The Front Hall, and 3. The Upper Hallway. While the Spiral Stair is rising, players may not exit to rooms numbered lower on this list than the room they entered here from. While the Spiral Stair is Sinking, players may not exit to rooms numbered higher on this list than the room they entered here from. If a player didn't enter from one of those rooms, then the previous two sentences don't apply to em.
 Exits:: The Upper Hallway, the Front Hall, and the Storage Room.
}}
{{
== The Upper Hallway ==
 Description:: Just up the stairs, the hallway loops back to overlook the Front Hall. A thin wrought iron balustrade separates the hallway from the drop down into the Hall. There are a few empty picture frames on the wall.
 Ordinances:: A player in the Upper Hallway may Leap to the Front Hall. This moves em directly to the Front Hall, but e loses 5 HP (hard landing).
 Exits:: The Spiral Stair, The Conservatory
}}
{{
== The Conservatory ==
 Description:: This room looks like a study of some sort. To one side of the room there's a large Queen Anne style antique desk, with matching chair. The uphostery is mostly worn away, but the remaining scraps are pure black. Each wall is covered with bookcases, on which are dozens of books. The books are all very old; while some seem to have survived the test of time, others are so tattered as to be practically illegible.
 The desk has six obvious drawers, all of which are locked.
 On the wall behind the desk, the bookcases give way to a large painting of a man. Like the painting in the front hall, the man's face isn't visible: it appears to have been torn off the picture.
 A curiously elongated sconce jutting out of the wall seems somehow out of place here.
 Ordinances:: The Sconce is an object; it may not be picked up or moved. Any player may declare that they are Raising the Sconce or Lowering the Sconce.
If more players are Raising the Sconce than are Lowering it, then the Sconce becomes Raised and the Spiral Staircase becomes Rising.
If more players are Lowering the Sconce than are Raising it, then the Sconce becomes Lowered and the Spiral Staircase becomes Sinking.
If the same number of players are Raising and Lowering the Sconce, then the Sconce is Level and the Spiral Staircase becomes Steady.
When a player isn't in the Conservatory, e is neither Raising nor Lowering the Sconce.
 Exits:: The Upper Hallway
}}
{{
== The Storage Room ==
 Description:: This stone room is built into the foundations of the house. It appears to be completely empty, except for a large painting of a tree hanging on one wall. The painting's frame is also made of stone.
 Ordinances:: None
 Exits:: The Spiral Stair
}}

Add The Spiral Stair to the list of exits from the Front Hall.

[[ The sconce would be a lot simpler if I could get this combat business worked out]]
