[Spoon-business] Go rule fix |
[[ I've noticed this problem with the rules, which hasn't been a problem yet but might become one. If a move results in two dragons being in a captured state, but one might live when the other is gone, the rule removes BOTH of them. This makes the typical Ko situation actually impossible: . A B . A B . B . A B . A places a stone in the middle of B's diamond: . A B . A B A B . A B . Since A made the move, B's stone gets captured. . A B . A . A B . A B . Now A's stone has a liberty, so it is not captured. However, with the text of the rule as it is now, A's stone would be captured simultaneously with B's, making the move actually illegal as A played a stone that was immediately captured. In 2-player go, the opponent's stones are always captured first. The logical extension of this is: ]] I propose: __After you.__ {{ Add this paragraph to Rule 1639, section D: {{ Multiple dragons can be captured in the same turn, but one at a time. If, as a result of a stone being placed, there exists more than one Dragon with no liberties, then the player making the capturing move chooses in what order they are captured. If a capture creates Liberties for a Dragon that had none, then the Dragon with the newly-found Liberties is not captured. }} }} -- Rob Speer _______________________________________________ spoon-business mailing list spoon-business@xxxxxxxxx http://lists.ellipsis.cx/mailman/listinfo/spoon-business
