[Spoon-business] Force Prop

Since Dave doesn't seem to be doing anything with it, here it is!

[[
Changed:
    Incorporated Dave's Jedi Path system
Made the Force a Dimension [[ sans DimShips, it's okay ]]
Added two new levels to Path system [[Jedi Knight becomes
Novice/Advanced, the Minister is now the Jedi Lord]]
Changed Force Destruction to cost 8 + 2*(number of target squares)
(instead of 14 regardless of the number of targets)
]]

I amend my Force Abilities proposal to be:

{{ __Preemptive Less is More: The Force__

Replace the text of Rule 815 with the following:

{{ __May The Force Be With You__

A. Definitions

A.1. The Force

Players have an attribute called Force (also known as Force Points). Force
is a Dimension.

Force Cap: A player may never have more than eir Force Cap in Force
Points. If at any time a player's Force exceeds eir Force Cap, eir Force
is decreased to eir Force Cap.

Force Budget: A player may not spend more than eir Force Budget in Force
during any nweek.

Force Recovery: At the beginning of every nweek, each player's Force
Recovery increases by eir Force Recovery.

A.2. The Jedi Path

Each Player has exactly one of the following Force Attributes, referred to
as Force Levels:

A.2.1. Untrained: An Untrained player may not use Force Abilities, and has
no Force Points. E has a Force Cap of 0, a Force Budget of 0, and a Force
Recovery of 0. New players receive this Force Attribute upon entering the
game.

A.2.2. Padawan Learner: A Padawan Learner (or Padawan) has a Force Cap of
20, a Force Budget of 8, and a Force Recovery of 5.

A.2.3. Novice Jedi Knight: A Novice Jedi Knight has a Force Cap of 40, a
Force Budget of 11, and a Force Recovery of 7.

A.2.4. Advanced Jedi Knight: An Advanced Jedi Knight has a Force Cap of 50,
a Force Budget of 30, and a Force Recovery of 9.

A.2.5. Jedi Master: A Jedi Master has a Force Cap of 60, a Force Budget of
50, and a Force Recovery of 10.

A.2.6. Jedi Lord: A Jedi Lord has a Force Cap of 80, a Force Budget of 70,
and a Force Recovery of 15.

A.3. Walking The Path (Chutzpah 3)

[[ This section has an increased Chutzpah because it circumvents the
normal rules regarding Force Budget and spending limits. ]]

A Player with the Force Attribute "Untrained" may not use Force Abilities.
Any other player may spend 10 Force Points to give an Untrained player the
Force Attribute "Padawan Learner".

A Player whose Force equals eir Force Cap may spend points equal to eir
Force Cap to advance to the next step of the Jedi Path. [[ i.e. a padawan
with 20 Force can burn 'em all and become a Knight with 0 Force. ]] A
player may not advance from Jedi Master to Jedi Lord in this fashion.

A player with the Force Attribute "Jedi Master" may expend 20 Force to
permanently increase eir Force Budget or Force Recovery by 1. [[ You've
gotta have some way to continue to improve... ]]

A.4. The Jedi Lord (and the Ministry of The Force)

There exists a Ministry of The Force. The Minister of the Ministry of the
Force automatically receives the Force Attribute "Jedi Lord" in lieu of
any other Force Attributes e possesses. There may be only one Jedi Lord
at any time.

The Jedi Lord is obliged to maintain a record of all players' Force
attributes. The Jedi Lord may disallow an action related to the Force or
Force Abilities which is illegal by posting to that effect on a public
forum. The Jedi Lord may not use that ability on an action which is legal.

[[ Basically, if a player tries to spend Force Points e doesn't have, the
Jedi Lord can tell em where to shove it. ]]

A Player who ceases to be a Jedi Lord for any reason (including, but not
limited to, losing a ministerial election) receives the Force Attribute
"Jedi Master".

[[ Yes, an Untrained player could win this election and immediately become a
Jedi Master. Hey, it'll be funny. ]]

B. Force Abilities

A Force Ability is any action players may perform which costs Force.
If a player's Force is less than the cost of a given Force ability, e may
not use that ability. When a player uses a Force Ability, eir Force
decreases by the cost of the Ability used.

B.1 Force Catching

Force Catching is a Force Ability with a cost of 4 Force. When used, the
player designates an Airborne throwable object that is headed for that
player's location. When a player Force Catches an object, that object
immediately ceases to be Airborne and enters the possession of the
Catching Player.

B.2 Force Vision

Force Vision is a Force Ability. It costs 3 Force, and must be targeted at a
Grid location. When a player uses Force Vision on a Grid location, the admin
must privately notify em of the locations of any bonus boxes within three
squares of the target location, but not of the type of box it is.

B.3 Force Intuition

Force Intuition is a Force Ability. It costs 6 Force, and must be targeted
at a Grid location. When a player uses Force Vision on a Grid location if
there is a bonus box at that location, the admin shall privately notify em
of the first letter of that bonus box's type. [[so you can identify
Gnome-in-a-boxes, Inflatable Sirens, Frog Juice, and Black Holes, but you
can't distinguish between White Holes and Wormholes or between Shiny Things
and Scary Things.]]
Padawans may not use Force Intuition.

B.4 Force Pulling

Force Pulling is a Force Ability. It costs 6 Force, and must be targeted at
a carryable object that is within 3 squares of the Pulling player's location
and is not in the possession of another object. When a player Force Pulls an
object, that object is moved to the possession of the Pulling Player.

B.5 Force Lifting

Force Lifting is a Force Ability. It costs 8 Force, and must be targeted at
a carryable object that is within 3 squares of the Lifting player's location
and is not in the possession of another object, and another square within 3
squares of the Lifting player's location that the target object could
legally enter. When a player Force Lifts an object, that object is moved
from its location to the targeted square.
Padawans may not use Force Lifting.

B.6 Force Absorbing

Force Absorbing is a Force Ability. It costs 8 Force, and has no target. A
player need not declare publicly that e is Force Absorbing; E may instead
notify the administrator privately. If a player who Force Absorbed within
the past two ndays, an object in the possession of such a player, or the
Grid location of such a player, is the target of another player's Force
abilities, those abilities have no effect, and the Absorbing player gains
2d5 points and 2d2 Force. Two ndays after a player has Force Absorbed, or
when a player's Force Absorption successfully stops another player's Force
abilities, the admin shall publicly recognize that that player was Force
Absorbing.
Padawans and Novice Jedi Knights may not Force Absorb.

B.7 Force Intercepting

Force Intercepting is a Force Ability. It costs 10 Force, and must be
targeted at an Airborne throwable object that is headed for a square within
three squares of the Intercepting player's location and that was thrown at
that square more than one nday ago, or at an Airborne throwable object that
is headed from a square within three squares of the Intercepting player's
location and that was thrown from that square less than one nday ago. When a
player Force Intercepts an object, that object immediately ceases to be
Airborne and enters the possession of the Intercepting Player.

B.8 Force Destruction

Force Destruction is a Force Ability. It must be targeted at up to three
Grid square within three squares of the Destroying player's location, all of
which must be consecutive to at least 1 of the other targeted squares, and
costs 8 Force plus 2 points for every target square. When a player Force
Destroys a square, the following occurs:

The square's substance becomes Fire.
Any Big Rocks on the square are destroyed, along with anything on the Big
Rock.
Any players on that square lose 2d3 points to the Destroying player.
All MO's on that square are moved to random squares that are consecutive to
that square and that were not also targeted.

Only Jedi Masters and Jedi Lords may use Force Destruction.

B.9 Jedi Mind Trick

Using a Jedi Mind Trick is a Force Ability. It costs 12 Force, and must be
targeted at a player that is within 3 squares of the Tricking player's
location, and an item on the Ballot. The target player may not be a player
who is more advanced on the Jedi Path than the Tricking player, nor may it
be a player with more Force than the Tricking player. When a player uses a
Jedi Mind Trick on another player, the Tricking player may set the targeted
player's vote on the targeted Ballot item. Once a player's vote has been set
this way, that player may not change it by submitting another vote. This
rule supercedes rule 30 in that regard.

Jedi Mind Tricks may only be used during Voting.

}}

Give the above Rule a Chutzpah of 2. [[ It'll override most normal stuff
but nothing *really* important. ]]

Give Slumbering Giant 1 the Force Attribute "Untrained" [[ since e doesn't
seem to care about such things ]]. Give three other players, selected at
random, who are not on Leave, the Force Attribute "Novice Jedi Knight". Give
all other players the Force Attribute "Padawan Learner".

}}
