I added *.pyc to subversion's ignore list on martial. If you're working 
remotely, you will probably have to this for yourselves as well. You will 
find ~/.subversion/config and you can just add *.pyc to the appropriate 
line (near, but not at, the bottom, under miscellany). Subversion should 
then default to ignoring such files when you issue status or add * or the 
like.
