Yeah, it kinda blows.  Here's a somewhat-related big question: how compatible
do we want to be with mh, either conceptually or syntactically?  If we want
to stay close, we can have a .nimh_profile file in ~ and all the config files
in ~/$maildir; alternative schemes would add an extra layer of incompatibility.
Do we give a damn?  I'm inclined to say no.
