How is not(case preserving) better than case preserving? <insert Unix fs here> is case preserving. I'm ambivalent on case insensitivity. Yes, this was a puzzler (I figured it out on Saturday; I didn't spend the whole weekend working on it or anything). And, yes, one would [maybe] think that when you go looking for "install" a file named "INSTALLED" shouldn't match; OTOH, it can be a feature (FUCK THE SHIFT KEY) if you're expecting it. I've yet to hear a convincing argument for why you should have files differing only by case in the same directory. I mean, that's dumb. --- New problem: inc is "unable to lock and fopen /var/mail/jon". This particular file is owned by me, but is only readable and writeable by root, a user who doesn't "exist" on my system (by choice -- permissions are _tight_). Doing "sudo chmod u+rw /var/mail/jon" has no effect, according to ls. I have no idea if this is a real permissions problem or an nmh config problem. "mail" seems to be able to read and zero the mail drop. Thoughts?
