Previously, I'd tried installing kernel 2.2.18. I did this by clicking on the checkbox that quite clearly said "Kernel 2.2.18". After the install, I'd end up with 2.4.2. Today, for the hell of it, since 2.4.2 was booting, I thought, well, hell, maybe if I told it to install 2.4.2, it would install it correctly. So in the installer I clicked on the checkbo that said "Kernel 2.4.2". After the install, cat /proc/version: Linux 2.2.18!!!!! FUCK!!!!! But... after rebooting twice (both time successfully), just to shake things out... I type into my term window on my iMac: ssh -l stew1 192.168.0.9 and get: The authenticity of host '192.168.0.9 (192.168.0.9)' can't be established. DSA blah blah blah Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)? yes Warning: permanently added '192.168.0.9' (DSA) to the list of known hosts. stew1@xxxxxxxxxxx's password: Last login: Mon Mar 25 19:49:39 2002 from console Have a lot of fun... stew1@martial:~ > Success!
