I've already checked out UM's facilities and yes, they are lacking.
Luckily their webmail is at least well-maintained and has lotsa
options, with iMac terminals all over campus. I can pay more to
get a shell account, but why bother? I'm just going to forward all
my mail to ellipsis anyway.

The one thing I have ever used any network AFS stuff for (besides
just the transparent stuff on vincent cuz it's distributed): downloading
Mac stuff from the umich site via afs rather than using an ftp session
directly to them (then could dl at local speeds, yo).
