According to my calculations, the British are just barely wiped out in
the siege battle of Piacenza, losing 5 factors in the first round, 7 in the
second round, and 2 in the third. The British inflict 1 casualty in the
first round, 1 in the second round, and none in the third.
Since the British garrison was eliminated, the French take the city
despite being broken in the third round. 7.5.4.1.4 says that "the besieger
gets one political point if the city is captured." Is there any reason to
think this rule does not apply to this case? In lieu of an argument to the
contrary, I will assume that France gains one political point for capturing
Piacenza.
