    So let's say that Britain ceded Portugal to some other country that
France is not at war with (Spain for instance).  Would the Portuguese factor
be turned over to Spain immediately (since France would no longer be at war
with Portugal's controlling power)?  Or would that only happen if/when
France and Spain concluded a peace treaty?
