[eia] Fwd: Ongoing EiA Game |
----- Forwarded message from Thad Sherck <tsherck@xxxxxxxxxxxx> ----- Date: Tue, 21 Jan 2003 16:54:03 -0800 (PST) From: Thad Sherck <tsherck@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Reply-To: tsherck@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Ongoing EiA Game To: jjy@xxxxxxxxxxx I thought I'd pass on to everyone this email I received from an anoymous EiA enthusiast. -JJY Lord British, I reviewed your game archieves today and found your current game of EiA most interesting. I am a veteran of about twenty grand campaigns, some of them PBM, and have not seen this level of 'record' for your public e-mails before. Good job. Also, I would be interested in learning more about the map system you are using. I tried to open one of the maps but, or course, did not have the correct program it was looking for in order to open it. Also, some information about the upcoming EiA PC game by Matrix. I have contracted them and learned that their game can be played either in the 'traditional' sense to recreate the original board game flavor or in an 'impulse' setting for more solo play/online play with other online opponents. They said one of their 'issues' was to make a version of the game that a player could play in a shorter amount of time. They estimate that in their impulse setting, you can play a year of game turns in about an hour. Obviously, the amount of diplomacy involved is much less but since the mechanics of the game will be sped up, it will help issues. Anyway, I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that it is good to see a young group of players enjoy EiA. It is one of the best strategic wargames I have come across and I enjoy it greatly.
