[eia] Minor Country Control |
Cool! Next up, we all need to
decide which minor countries (if any) we are willing to sponsor/control while
they are at war. The available minors are:
Portugal
Bavaria
Romagna*
Denmark
Naples
Baden
Wurttemburg
Hesse
Tuscany*
Berg*
The ones with *'s have no forces to control. For
each of these countries except Denmark and Naples, the controlling major power
will gain 1 political point when they get control and lose 1 political point
when they lose control. (For Denmark and Naples, it is 2 points
apiece.) Obviously, the power that declared war on the minor cannot gain
control of it.
If more than one power wishes to
control a given minor country, then we roll a single D6 with modifiers that can
be found on the Minor Countries Chart of the Game Card (page 4).
Because Prussia is the only power currently in the Dominant Zone on the
Political Status Display, it will get an additional +1 to all attempts to
control a minor country.
Before I said that we should all
declare which countries we are willing to control *before* we start rolling
dice. But I don't see why it really makes any difference. That is, I
don't see why we can't send out our rolls along with our list of minor
countries. Suppose I declare I want a country and roll high. Why
should that deter other interested countries from rolling? Same goes for
rolling low. If countries are interested, they will roll. If not,
they won't. I don't see what the difference is. So I propose that we
send out our minor country control orders along with our rolls for
those countries. Doing so should save us a little bit of time at minimal
cost. If you can think of a good reason why declaring and rolling at
the same time is a bad idea, please let us all
know.

P.S. France is interested in controlling Romagna,
Bavaria, Denmark, and Naples. Unless I hear otherwise, I will send out my
rolls for these countries tomorrow.
