We're actually using MSVC 7.0, which is considerably better than 6, but 
still doesn't support template partial spec.

But, yes, it would. However, I'm actually using this at work, which comes 
with certain constraints. Namely, no external dependencies, not even 
boost.

I'm using typelists to define file formats. :-)
