Some properties of 1st-era Gnomes that may or may not be worth reviving.

1. Gnomes doubled as weapons. Only bomb gnomes were ever very
effective at this function.
2. Some Gnomes could be squeezed to give you stuff. Squeezing Gnomes
slowly used them up until eventually they were destroyed.
3. Most Gnome types were named for alcoholic beverages you could get
by squeezing them. Drinking these beverages had in-game effects,
usually some positive ones plus raising your BAC, which could be bad.
4. No attempt whatsoever was made at balancing the various gnomes
against each other, as best as I can tell. Beer Gnomes look
particularly broken, in hindsight, since they made Beer Cans, and you
could feed any wet Gnome a Beer Can to make it reproduce.
