Your move fails, because you didn't correctly represent the gamesate.

Your stone at G3 should die - it now constitutes a surrounded Dragon, as every piece in it belongs either to you or your Ally the Baron, but none of the pieces around it are owned by a mutual ally of the two of you (since Glotmorf and BvS aren't allied). In order for you to ally with the Baron without losing anything, Glotmorf has to do it first.

Does anyone else like the old system more? It was more counterintuitive in most cases, but it had a certain charm... (for the benefit of new people/forgetful old people, the old system was the one where during your turn, a 'dragon' was a set of stones owned by you and your allies, regardless of whether your allies were allied to each other; it was canned because it was thought to be too confusing, since a given board would behave differently depending on who was moving)
