Would the Master Sword not be destroyed, courtesy of the fire it was dropped into?

Perhaps it oughta be, but it ain't.

As for the Charm thang, perhaps a better idea would be to make it more problematic to drink 24 glasses of tequila (or any other alcoholic beverage).

Along the lines of, oh, say, the following M-Tek club prop:

{{ _Drinking Problem_

Add to the end of Rule 1081 the following:

B. Binge Drinking

When a player drinks an alcoholic beverage, eir BAC is compared to a roll of 2d12. If eir BAC is greater than the roll, the player is too drunk to get the drink to eir mouth, and spills it, removing it from eir possession.

}}

Tequila gives 2d3 points o' charm; 24 is how many you need to ensure that you beat 45 charm. (actually, 23 would suffice). But if you get lucky rolls, 8 drinks'll do it.

Given that Charm is also linked to nweekly allowances, I think we'd be better off changing the Tequila Rule.

Not that I object to the above prop; I just think we need to do more to fix the problem.
