I just sent a message to Thermo on the topic.  Hopefully the destructive 
tendencies of two players won't spoil things for the rest of us.

There have been several messages on the discuss list in response to you, 
mostly stating that you have to declare a name to join.  However...

I looked up the rules, and technically, you don't have to state jack squat 
to join.  Not even a name.  So guess what Sam, you're in, as soon as Dave 
recognizes it.  However, you don't have an in-game name until you declare 
one; I hope, for the sanity of all of us, you declare one soon.
