[Spoon-business] Quick Fix Fix, and a Big heap of Insta-Rules

In my proposal entitled __Unit Fixing__, I remove the last section of the
proposed rule [[exchange rates - ppl seem not to want them]]. Then, I amend
what is now the last section of that rule by adding the following: "Resource
Units may also be referred to as Units or as Units of Raw materials, but
this is discouraged. If at any time no rule or official document makes
reference to RU's using the alternate names in the previous sentence other
than this one, the adminstrator may delete this sentence and the one
preceding it from this rule." [[So nothing that currently exists will be
screwed up]]

I amend my proposal 1210 to replace the change to rule 206 with:
"Amend rule 206 [[206/1]] to read:
{{
__Garbage Collection__

If any player has been On Forced Leave for 3 or more consecutive nweeks, or
On Leave for 6 or more consecutive nweeks, and has not been Lurking during
that time, that player shall cease to be a player.

}}
"
[[It seems unfair that someone who goes On Leave, then disappears, gets
sacked in 3 nweeks, while someone who disappears without going On Leave gets
three weeks of non-action, then three more weeks of Forced Leave time.]]

I propose:
{{
__The Ruleset in your Pocket__

Amend rule 698 [[698/2]] to be:
{{
__Insta-Rules__
There exist objects called Insta-Rules, or IRs. IRs are throwable,
carryable, passable MOs. IRs must conform to the following format:

{ It is { legal | illegal } to { { { throw at | give to | take from } {
players | grid locations | <specific player> | <specific grid location> |
The Yeti } { gremlins | beer cans | gnomes } } | { { enter | remain in |
enter or remain in } <specific grid location> [ without bouncing
Elbonia-style ] } } }.

where { and } delimit a set from which one item must be chosen, or a member
of a set; [ and ] delimit optional text; and < and > delimit a category of
information to be filled in.

X--X

If an Insta-Rule says that a player may take an object from another player,
then the player in question may take that object if and only if e is in a
square consecutive to the one containing the player to be taken from.

If an Insta-Rule forbids a player to perform a certain action, then e may
not perform that action.

If an Insta-Rule permits a player to perform a certain action, then active
Insta-Rules created prior to that one do not prevent em from performing that
action.

If an Insta-Rule forbids a player to remain in a certain square without
being thrown Elbonia-style, and a player occupies that square, then that
player is thrown at eir current location Elbonia-style.

If an Insta-Rule forbids a player to remain in a certain square, but does
not mention Elbonia-style, and a player occupies that square, then that
player is moved to a random square consecutive to eir location. If this is
impossible, e is moved to Limbo.

X--X

The restrictions listed above in the X--X delimited section only apply to
grid squares, objects, and players if all the squares, objects, and players
in question are within 6 grid squares of the location of either the
Insta-Rule being used, or the entity or object which possesses that IR.

Insta-Rules are identified as such, and must be unique from other
currently-existing Insta-Rules. Insta-Rules take precedence over other
Insta-Rules created before them.

Each Player has an attribute called Insta-Ruler, with an initial value of 0.
At the beginning of each nweek, if a Player's Insta-Ruler is greater than 0,
it is decreased by 1.

Once per nweek, if a Player's Insta-Ruler is 5 or less, e can declare an
Insta-Ruling, which consists of one of the following:

1. the creation of an Insta-Rule
2. the destruction of an existing Insta-Rule
3. the modification of an existing Insta-Rule by changing any single { }
delimited choice in the above framework to another possible value; if this
would result in new { } choices, it may not be done.

Insta-Rulings are implemented at the end of the nweek; at that time, the
Insta-Ruler of the Player who made the Insta-Ruling is increased by 2.

If a new Insta-Rule is created by a player's Insta-Ruling, the Insta-Rule
begins in the possession of that player; if the player is in Limbo, or if
the Insta-Rule was created by another source, it begins on a random Grid
Square.

For Insta-Rulings of type 2 or 3 in the above numbered list, the effects of
the Insta-Ruling only take effect if, at the time the Insta-Ruling would
take effect, the IR being destroyed/modified is either in the possesion of
the Insta-Ruling player, or on a Grid square adjacent to that Player's
location and not in any other player's possession.

Whenever a player is Whacked by a Big Stick, Shot with a Pinball Gun, or
Thwocked by a Sledge-o-Matic, all Insta-Rules e possesses leave eir
possession and are thrown Elbonia-Style at the location e was at before e
got Whacked/Shot/Thwocked.

}}

Give 1/3 of the points earned by the passage of this proposal by Wonko to
Glotmorf. [[because I got the idea while thinking about eir idea for a Nomic
where rules were objects within buildings, that could only be modified if a
player found 'em]]

}}

[[Egad... I can't write square brackets without thinking about loops, ever
since I started learning BrainF*ck]]
