As far as I can tell, the most common opinion is that there are no points awarded for an overwhelming force battle and there is no chance for withdrawal if the army already chose to withdraw in the chit selection.

Various people see this as clear or not clear to varying degrees, but this seems the most common interpretation of the rule.

Therefore it seems that the Bordeaux battle will wrap up as the British force is destroyed, no points are awarded and the French land phase is complete
